I typically spend all day in the kitchen preparing Thanksgiving dinner and this year it is my goal to be more prepared so I can spend more time with my family! I am focusing on recipes that can be made ahead of time and I found a great stuffing recipe in Gourmet. Not only is this recipe simple but you can make it one day ahead of time with only 45 minutes of preparation time, which means one less dish to make on Thanksgiving!Â
Thanksgiving is just around the corner, which means it is time to start picking out your favorite recipes for this holiday season. My favorite part about Thanksgiving dinner is the dessert! I love pecan pie and chocolate and I have found the perfect recipe to combine both ingredients. I can not wait to try out this recipe and add it to my holiday favorites!
It’s almost my favorite time of year! No, not Christmas. Halloween! Last night I stopped by Target on the way home from work to pick up a few items. As I turned a corner near the back of the store, I spotted the Halloween merchandise and sprinted straight over, completely ignoring the list of items I needed to purchase.
Like a kid in a candy store, I browsed through aisle after aisle of kitschy costumes, tantalizing treats and spooky decorations. I pushed all the buttons on the animated displays just to hear them, and thoroughly scrutinized each item I was interested in to see if it would make a worthy addition to my already fantastic fall collection.
And, with Halloween coming up, that means that it’s almost harvest-time too! As you might know, harvest usually begins for us in mid- to late November, and it’s definitely an exciting time of year on the farm.
To get you in the spirit of Halloween and the upcoming harvest, check out this recipe for Pumpkin Cheesecake Crumble from epicurious.com. It’s a little taste of fall with a big pecan crunch, and will definitely get you in the mood to celebration the season.
Last night we decided to decorate the tree, finally. I know, we’re running a little late considering the holidays are pretty much here. It just doesn’t feel like that special time of year in our house until we decorate with all the twinkling lights and shiny ornaments while listening to our favorite collection of festive songs.
The best part is when we finally get to sit down and admire our work. It’s a tradition to turn off all the lights, sit on the couch and listen to our favorite holiday songs while we sip dark hot chocolate and munch on our homemade sugary spice pecans.
After all, what’s a holiday without a little fresh, homemade pecan snack?
